Title: Structural Engineer 3
Location: On-site at El Segundo

Why hiring:

Tech / domain environment:
- Tooling department in an aerospace fabrication environment.

- FEMAP/NASTRAN, NX, and CATIA.
- CAD fabrication drawings compliant with ASME Y14.1-5 standards.
Job duties:
- Analyze, research, and provide input on product design or product operation involving metals and varying materials.
- Perform structural analysis using hand calculations and FEMAP/NASTRAN software.
- Perform static and dynamic analysis for tooling fixtures and structures.
- Create analysis reports and review reports prepared by others.
- Present and explain structural issues and solutions to internal management and customer representatives.
- Engage team members in meetings and 1:1s to solve complex engineering problems.
- Evaluate engineering products for conformity to standards, procedures, and specifications.
- Identify and mitigate safety risks in accordance with company and state/government standards.
- Develop and conceptualize designs using 3D modeling tools, including NX and CATIA.
- Create fabrication drawings in CAD compliant with ASME Y14.1-5 standards.
- Provide guidance to engineers on current fabrication and machine-shop practices.
- Provide input or methods for process and design innovation while adapting to processes and company policy.
Must haves:
- Active Professional Engineering (PE) license; California licensure is preferred.
- Structural stress-analysis experience and ability to analyze simple to complex problems using hand calculations and FEA.
- Experience with structural stress-analysis techniques, concepts, and practices.
- Experience with computer-aided design tools and systems, including CATIA and NX.
- Basic ability to create, read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings and specifications in accordance with ASME 14.5; basic GD&T understanding.
- Ability to communicate with varied leadership levels, coordinate and resolve interpersonal and technical problems, and work independently or on a team with limited guidance.
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET security clearance and special program access.
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field and experience in medium- to large-scale fabrication and/or production fabrication, including composites, metallic, and/or manufacturing operations.
- Familiarity with structural engineering specialties including dynamics and loads, stability, stress fatigue, damage tolerance, durability, and design allowables.
- Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.
- A Bachelor’s (STEM) degree.
- Experience in medium- to large-scale fabrication and/or production fabrication, including composites, metallic, and/or manufacturing operations.
Nice to haves:
- Experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with aircraft structural analysis or design.
- Direct experience with tooling mechanics and stress analysis.
- Fabrication experience applying accessibility, economy, mobility, and performance requirements.
- Current active DoD Secret clearance with an investigation date or periodic review within the last five years.
