Overview
The top technical authority for automation and controls at Voyager Energetics. Sets standards and architecture, solves the hardest automation problems, and mentors the controls group across solid rocket motor and energetic materials production.
What You Will Do
Define automation standards, architecture patterns, and design guidelines
Lead PLC design, programming, and commissioning across Allen Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, Fanuc, and other platforms
Drive the automation roadmap including machine vision, ML process optimization, and advanced robotics
Design NEC/UL508A electrical systems for C1D1/C2D1 areas and build cabinets and field wiring
Architect plant networks (4 to 20 mA and Ethernet) and data systems for SPC
Design HMI/SCADA systems and maintain schematics and BOMs
Must Haves
BS in EE, ME, CompE or related with 10+ years in industrial automation and controls (MS with 8+, or 14+ years hands on without a degree)
Expert in ladder logic, structured text, and function block across multiple PLC vendors
Designed and commissioned robotic work cells, end of arm tooling, safety systems, and motion control
Expert in NEC and UL508A, hazardous area classification, and hands on cabinet building
Plant networking, HMI/SCADA development, and SPC data architecture
Nice to Haves
Energetics, explosives, or other hazardous manufacturing
ML or advanced analytics in manufacturing (vision inspection, predictive maintenance)
2D electrical schematics and SolidWorks
Lean or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt
Requirements
Onsite role. Remote is not an option.
US Person required for ITAR (US Citizen or Green Card holder)
Must be 21 or older and eligible for state and federal explosives licenses
Drug free workplace and background investigation
Able to lift 50 lbs and work on a manufacturing floor in PPE

Posted FTE base: $140K to $170K
Look for people who have set standards, not just followed them.
Platform agnostic is key since Voyager has not standardized PLC brands yet.
