About the Role

Title: Hardware Circuit Design Engineer – Analog
Location: Portland, OR; on-site
Contract: 1+ year
Start: ASAP
Interview process: 1-hour hiring-manager technical interview with circuit analysis, followed by a 3-4 hour Panel
Employment type: Contract

Why hiring:
- The role is needed to own concept-through-production analog and mixed-signal board-level circuit design for ATE instruments.

End product:
- Analog and mixed-signal ATE instrument boards taken from requirements through production
- High-current instrumentation-style analog circuits for signal conditioning, filtering, stability/compensation, control loops, switching supplies, noise/crosstalk, and high-power signal delivery
- High-current instrumentation-style analog for ATE instruments.

Tech / domain environment:
- Multilayer in a 30–36-layer environment
- ATE instruments
- Analog Circuits

Job duties:
- Design analog circuits from requirements through production
- Design op-amp circuits, signal conditioning, filters, compensation networks, and control loops
- Design switching power supplies and high-current instrumentation circuitry
- Analyze noise, crosstalk, stability, and thermal behavior on multilayer Boards
- Guide CAD on complex 30–36-layer boards
- Run or direct SPICE and related simulations and interpret results
- Root-cause customer issues and design or test operations improvements
- Collaborate across dispersed teams and lead junior engineers when assigned
- Perform schematic capture using Allegro Capture, OrCAD, or equivalent
- Own concept-through-production board-level analog circuit design for ATE instruments.
- Perform real circuit design rather than layout.

Must haves:
- 10+ years of hands-on board-level analog design
- Op-amps, signal conditioning, filters, stability, compensation, and control loops
- Switching supply design and noise/crosstalk measurement on multilayer PCBs
- High-power signal delivery experience
- Guiding multilayer PCB layout specialists in a 30–36-layer environment
- Hands-on SPICE or equivalent experience, including direct simulation and result interpretation
- Live circuit analysis during the interview, including node voltages, loops, and stability
- Driving designs from requirements or incomplete schematics through production
- BSEE, MSEE, or equivalent
- On-site Portland Area
- Demonstrated real circuit design experience, not layout-focused work.
- Ability to analyze circuits on a whiteboard during the screening process.

Nice to haves:
- High-current instrumentation or precision measurement
- Mixed-signal boards bridging analog front end to digital or high-speed
- Instrumentation, test equipment, ATE, or high-reliability hardware
- ADS/Ansys, high-speed familiarity, or leadership

Disqualifiers:
- Layout/CAD-primary background
- No circuit design in the last ~5 years
- Pure digital/high-speed-only background
- Pure power electronics without signal-path or instrumentation analog depth
- Unable to perform live circuit analysis on screen
- Cannot perform whiteboard circuit analysis during the screen.
