About the Role
Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer, ECU
Headcount: 1
Location: Costa Mesa, CA; Onsite; 5 days/week
Contract: Long-term contract-to-hire; Start: 2026-10-16
Interview Process: 1-2 Teams/Zoom interviews (mechanical design focus and thermal focus); Feedback SLA: Weekly
Why Hiring:
- Workforce increase needed to bring ECU system design in-house and improve existing supplier variants due to ongoing field issues and failures.
End Product:
- Titan and Menace deployable command centers, specifically focusing on building and improving environmental control units (ECUs).
Tech/Domain Environment:
- Siemens NX or SolidWorks CAD software
- Mechanical enclosure design and internal component integration
- HVAC and thermal systems
Job Duties:
- Guide discussions and improvements with existing ECU suppliers and vendors.
- Perform system and mechanical design, component selection, and enclosure design.
- Integrate internal mechanical and electro-mechanical parts.
- Troubleshoot component failures and piping cracks during durability cycles.
- Build and shape an in-house mechanical and system design team long-term.
Must Haves:
- Hands-on proficiency with Siemens NX or SolidWorks CAD
- Experience with mechanical system ownership and integration
- Experience with vendor selection and supplier management
- Experience in HVAC or thermal systems
- Ability to work on-site in Costa Mesa, CA 5 days a week
Nice to Haves:
- Heavy simulation or thermal analysis experience
- Background in automotive or commercial HVAC industries (Carrier, Trane)
- Leadership experience to build out an in-house engineering team
Disqualifiers:
- Candidates unwilling to work on-site in Costa Mesa, CA
- Pure analysis or simulation background with no mechanical system ownership or vendor management experience
