About the Role

Title: Test Platform Software Engineer (Python)

Headcount: 1-2

Location: Mojave, CA - On-site for the first ~3 months, then hybrid flexibility

Contract: 12 months

Start: October

Interview Process: 30-minute initial screening followed by a 1-hour or longer in-depth technical interview, system-level design approach, and prior work review; Feedback SLA: Weekly

Why Hiring:

- Replacing legacy LabVIEW test automation software framework with a new Python-based architecture and controlled UIs.

End Product:

- Avionics components tested via shaker tables, thermal chambers, and shock systems.

Tech/Domain Environment:

- Python, LabVIEW, React (optional front-end)

- National Instruments hardware, PXI, compact deck, DAQ systems

- Visa communications, SCPI commands, device mapping protocols

- Server-side databases, asynchronous programming

Job Duties:

- Build software for test racks and test automation frameworks

- Develop front-end and back-end software for test automation and instrument control

- Display real-time data, plots, and gauges on the UI layer

- Control hardware and instruments via backend communication protocols

- Execute parallel instrument test automation sequences and validation

- Provide a user-friendly test sequence editor in the UI to replace manual JSON configuration

- Implement device auto-discovery and database synchronization for test instruments

- Log high-performance data streams at rates up to 10 kHz

Must Haves:

- LabVIEW test automation software experience

- Python programming experience for backend systems

- Full-stack developer background with server-side database experience

- Experience with asynchronous programming and multi-process information exchange

- National Instruments hardware and NI module experience (PXI, compact deck)

- Experience writing data display layer applications for DAQ systems

- US citizen

- ITAR compliant

Nice to Haves:

- SSO authentication integration

- Role-based access controls

- React web application front-end development

- Visa instrument communication protocol experience

Disqualifiers:

- Lack of production-level Python experience

- Non-US citizen lacking green card or ITAR eligibility

Security/Clearance:

- US citizenship required (ITAR compliant)
