About the Role
Location: Remote or in person, Folsom, CA or Reno, NV Interview Process: Phone screen, technical interview, final interview; Feedback SLA: 48 hours Why Hiring: Need for expertise in complex mechanical design and testing; Enhance product development in aerospace applications. End Product: Advanced rocket motor systems and components. Tech/Domain Environment: - CAD software , SolidWorks preferred or Creo - Windows/Linux OS - GD&T standards - NDT methods, statistical analysis tools Job Duties: - Design complex actuator systems and optimize performance metrics. - Create 3D models and technical drawings using CAD software. - Conduct material characterization and optimize metal selection. - Develop and validate complex simulations for structural and thermal analysis. - Lead manufacturing processes including additive manufacturing and machining. - Develop and execute test plans for rocket motor components. - Conduct mass estimation and risk analysis for engineering projects. - Manage small project teams and procurement strategies. Must Haves: - 10-15 years mechanical engineering experience in production environments. - Proficient in SolidWorks or CATIA for 3D modeling in production. - Experience with GD&T and statistical tolerance analysis in production. - Expertise in additive manufacturing techniques in production. - Proven experience in developing test plans and data analysis in production. - Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance. Nice to Haves: - Rocket motor design and testing experience. - Master of Science in mechanical or aerospace engineering. - Familiarity with propellant chemistry and combustion principles. - Experience with circuit board design and avionics systems. - Knowledge of advanced manufacturing planning techniques. Disqualifiers: - No experience in production environments. - Only academic or POC experience in rocket motor design. - No ability to obtain U.S. security clearance. Data/Perf Targets: - N/A They want: Rocket / missile hardware ownership Design ? build ? test (hardware lifecycle) Production + qualification experience (not just design) Test-heavy engineers (hot fire, validation, failure analysis) Testing Must Haves: Experience with statistical analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python) in production. Knowledge of solid rocket motor performance principles with documented results. Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance. Rocket motor design and testing experience with documented projects. Master of Science in mechanical or aerospace engineering from an accredited university) Familiarity with CFD software (e.g., ANSYS Fluent) for simulations.
